The English Wedgwood began producing tableware in 1759. Wedgwood obtained the right to use the honorary title Queen's Ware from Queen Charlotte in 1766 for earthenware tableware. The Queen's Ware service was a fine, cream-coloured earthenware tableware series developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the mid-18th century.
Today, the Wedgwood Edme variant of this classic cream-colored tableware is perhaps the most famous Wedgwood tableware there is. The Edme tableware was designed by the then Art Director of Wedgwood, John Goodwin. Edmé was the first name of one of the Wedgwood brothers. Wedgwood Edme is made of very strong earthenware. The Edme tableware was in production for over 100 years, but has now been definitively discontinued.
